Our Team.
We are a group of University of Bristol students in the Classics and Ancient History department with a passion for board games. This game was the product of our Applied Classics project, to make Classics accessible for everyone. Meet the team below and take a closer look at our development process.

Brainstorming
The first stage was discussion based, as we began to create our boardgame. We knew that it would be set in Pompeii, and we wanted to include a volcano element, but there was still a realm of possibilities of what direction we could take. Our main aim however was to educate our players about life in Pompeii.

Research and Design
To gather more information about board game theory and design, we made a visit to Chance Encounters, Bristol's board game café. We looked at the different style of boards, and decided upon a strategy game, similar in vein to 'Life'.

Construction
We divided the construction tasks among us; these included building the board, designing and printing resource cards, designing player figures and a Roman numeral die, as well as creating the box for the game. Alongside this we continued our research into Pompeii to inform our design choices.

Computing
As part of the project, we needed to produce a website. We wanted to create a feature that would countdown to the explosion that ends the game, therefore a website was the perfect way to display this. The website would also provide extra information on Pompeii, and promote our board game in its final form.
